Bus Accident with Multiple Injuries

An Eyre tour bus from Boston, Massachusetts, struck the Alexandria Avenue overpass while heading down the right lane of the parkway on the morning of November 14th.

Responding officers found that many of the 28 passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries from flying debris. Ten teenagers were taken to local hospitals with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, most of them to heads, necks and backs.

The entire right side and the roof of the bus were severely damaged in the accident. The minimum height of the bridge in that lane is 10 feet, two inches; the bus height was 12 feet, four inches.

Park Police officers are investigating the accident. The NTSB will be inspecting the bus at a later date, and Federal Highways will inspect the bridge for damage. Charges have not been filed pending completion of the investigation.
